More Nordic Christmas

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.
It's sweltering hot here today and I'm sure it is where you are - take care in the sun and don't forget the sun cream!
I'm tucked away in my craft room with the blind closed to minimise the sauna effect as we get the sun at the back of the house most of the day and that's where I spend most of my time. LOL

Onto today's shares.
I've used the gorgeous Nordic Christmas Square cone die set for the cone and the card.

I decided on an ivory and blue colour combo for this one and used the fab Nuvo Jewel drops in Sea Breeze to add detail but not interfere with the overall tone of the project. They work perfectly to enhance your projects.

The decoration carries on to the closure and the doves really lend themselves to more than a Christmas theme and would be fabulous for wedding favours too.

My second share is made using the same dove panel only this time as a full background for my card.

Products used -
Craft Perfect - Arctic Blue, Bright White, Sugar Crystal glitter card, Chrome Silver High Gloss, Pistachio, Olive Green
Nordic Christmas Square cone die set
Craft Perfect Star Flower - Red sparkling
Merry Christmas Serif sentiment
Tag from the Nordic Christmas Tag die set
Leaves from Tonic Craft Kit #5

I cut the glitter card panel bigger than I needed and starting at one end die cut the dove die into the card stock. I then placed it beside the first cut upside down and continued in this way across the piece of card.
I glued it to the backing blue card and then die cut both with the layering die from the large envelope die set. I layered this die cut panel onto the high gloss Chrome silver card.
I punched a slot at either end of the tag keeping them centred and threaded the ribbon through.
I finished off the card as seen.
The base card measures 5 x 6 1/2" to give you an idea of scale.

Nordic Christmas and Kraft card

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.
I have a couple of Nordic Christmas samples to share with everyone's favourite kraft card as a base.

I made an assortment of tags and then a little box to put them in. It would make a very handy little gift for someone coming up to Christmas.

The box is ribbon tied to secure it and decorated with a stag design border to echo the image on the actual decorative die cut.

Inside the box are a variety of coloured tags each with a matching greeting tag inside the pocket.
I've teemed the colours up with their matching Nuvo twine.

Tonic products used -
Craft Perfect - Kraft, Bright White, Cornflower Blue, Fern Green, Cherry Red
Festive Sentiment stamp set
Nuvo hybrid inks - Safari Green, Empire Blue, Poppy Red

Making the Box
I measured the tag size and allowed an excess for the box depth and for the height of the finished bundle of tags.
Lid - 4.5 x 6.5"
Base - cut the same dimensions minus 1/16"
Score all round at 1"
Snip into the corners and remove a small triangle of card stock at the cross over sections where you will glue the tabs to the insides of the box. This helps line up the edges perfectly. You may also want to cut a small diagonal piece on the top side of the glue tab as well. All for the sake of a neat finish of course.
I've lined the bottom of the box with co-ordinating paper.

Decorate your box to your own taste and finish with a ribbon tie if required.

My second Kraft item is a card made with the gorgeous envelope front die for decoration.

Tonic products used -
Craft Perfect - Kraft card, Polished Gold, Cream, Espresso brown
Nordic Christmas envelope die
Reindeer Trio die set

The finished card measures 5 x 6.5"

I die cut the front decorative panel and glued it to the polished gold background. Using the Tangerine I replaced the die over the piece and embossed it giving a luxurious quilted effect.
I die cut the reindeer with the kraft and espresso brown card stock, adding the little details with the gold high gloss card stock.
The centre sentiment panel comes with the die set and embosses beautifully by just cutting it out from the card stock - especially the high gloss.

I hope you are enjoying the shows, the collection has all but sold out so have fun with your dies when you receive them.

Thank you for joining me today.

Here are some of the samples I made for the show

My second card is a shaker using the Rococo Plus Trio of Angels die set

English Picnic layering die set

Christmas sentiment - Season's Greetings
Rococo Bauble trio
Nuvo Glimmer paste - Golden Crystal
Nuvo Embellishment mousse - Indian Gold

For this sample I've used one of the recent Waterfall die sets for a different take.

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

I have a few more samples I made for the launch of the Festive Minatures and Christmas Sentiments collection to share today.

My first card features one of the gorgeous sentiment dies so I kept the card plain and simple to draw the eye to this as the focal point.

I've used Tonic's Berry Sprig and Pine leaf dies from the Create a Wreath collection for the foliage.
Craft Perfect - Buried Treasure hand crafted paper
Pistachio Green, Avocado Green, Cherry Red, Bright White
Victorian Frame layering dies

A wee touch of white gel pen on the berries gives a finishing touch.

For my second card I've used the beautifully detailed Rococo Trio Stockings die set.

Craft Perfect - Cherry Red, Ivory White, Limelight
Nuvo Hybrid ink - Rosewood
Nuvo Crystal drops - Honey Gold glitter drops, Red Berry gloss drops

For my third sample I made up a little gift box using the Festive Flurries Tent Box die set.

Craft Perfect - Bright White, Mauve Purple, Amethyst Purple, Silver Silk Speciality card

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

I've been having a wee play with some bits and pieces on my desk so I put this card together quite quickly this morning.

I've used all sorts and I found my Dymo label maker under a pile of stuff in a drawer so I gave that a wee airing as well.

I've used the diamond patterned panel die for the background simply cut from white card stock and backed with the new lush Lemon Lustre pearlescent card also from Tonic.

The large Sparkle flower is stamped onto water colour card stock previously coloured with Aqua Flow markers. I used Nuvo Black shadow hybrid ink.
The Hello die cut is from the ATC collection and I've cut that five times and layered the die cuts together to give added emphasis to the sentiment.

I hope you are having a good day in the sunshine.

Thank you for calling in today. 😃

Aqua Flows

Hello and welcome to the blog this evening.
We have the decorators in so it's a bit chaotic at the minute. I found a wee bit of time to play with the fabulous Nuvo Aqua Flow pens from Tonic mainly to stay out of the way.

I've used mostly the latest release with a bit of help from Aqua Splash and Black from the original sets.

My first card has a multi coloured background overstamped with a fab texture stamp from Marianne designs and a crackle look one from Nellie Snellen (both from Crafts u Love).

The dream catcher is from Sheena's Call of the Wild collection and is heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder by Tonic.
I die cut two feathers, also from the Call of the Wild collection and edged them with Nuvo Indian Gold Embossing mousse from Tonic.
I went round the edge of the watercolour background with Nuvo Black Shadow ink.

My second card was one of those smooshed backgrounds using greens, yellows and teal Aqua Flows.

I stamped the rose (from Studio Crafts) and then coloured it with the pens to make it more bold against the background.

I die cut the Will's Hand word 'Blessed' from the coloured layer, popped it onto it's backing die cut in black and raised it onto 3D foam to make it more prominent matching up the pattern for a slightly different look.

My third card was my attempt at a galaxy look.
I over watered it and it went sort of blotchy but I heat set it anyway and then spritzed it with water which gave me a very interesting looking texture so I kept it. :)

I splattered the card front with the colours I used in the main piece and then blotted them to have a softer finish.
Again I die cut the words from the main piece, matted them onto their background shapes and 3D'd them onto the card.

I've had such a lot of fun with these pens and there's so much more you can do with them that you will run out of ink before you run out of ideas.

Thank you for calling in today.

Have a smashing evening.

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I made this album for a lovely lady and I'm pleased to say she liked it.
I've used Tonic Studios Memory Book 2 dies and Crafter's Companion 'Blues and Lilacs' A3 paper.

I also used leaves, waterfall and the photo frame from previous Tonic Studios Kits, Tonic Simplicity border punch, Memories die (Set 2) and page dies from Memory Book set 1 from Tonic, Filigree metal embellishments and EK Success punch from my stash.

Hope you enjoy this one today. 😊

Good 'ol Sport album

Good morning and welcome to the weekend on the blog.

I have an album to share today that I've made for my Son in law's 40th birthday instead of a card.

It measures 5 1/2 x 7 1/2" and I've used Graphic 45's 'Good 'ol Sport' paper collection.

Sadly I didn't have any sporty charms for the spine so it's ended up with the ubiquitous lock and key embellies. 😄

As you can tell the lighting left a lot to be desired but I hope it gives you an idea of how it came together.

Have a great weekend and thank you for calling in.

Just a wee note. Tonic Studios are celebrating their 17th birthday on Hochanda for the next 9 -10 days. The first two days have seen sell outs and all sorts of excitement. Join the party, just check the schedule on the Hochanda web site for loads more goodies.

See you soon!

Me & You Legacy Keeper photo album and Tutorial

$

Hi again. I've been asked how I made this little photo album using the Legacy Keeper die set.
First of all here is the completed album with spaces to slide in four of your precious pics and two outer panels to jot down the story behind the photos.

The album folds in from both sides and joins in the centre.
You can decorate it in your own style of course and have a lot of fun making it.
It would be a lovely keepsake for grandparents, a brag book, a special place to hold fond memories, just whatever you would like.

Photo Album Tutorial

There are quite a few pics so I hope you can follow what I've done.
Enjoy!

First of all cut two of the legacy dies in your chosen card stock

Take off the top tabs as shown and cut windows into the four bottom tabs using the small scallop edge die from the set

Prepare a construction strip 1/2" x 4" and score lengthwise. Add tape as seen. This will hold both the sections together and elongate your album.

Cut four frames in your chosen card stock using the two scallop edge dies from the set.
Be careful when cutting them together and tape down well to prevent them moving as you cut.

This is probably not the most interesting pic you have ever seen but is one of the acetate windows for your album cut using the larger of the two scallop edge dies.
As a means of cutting acetate cleanly, sandwich the acetate and die between two layers of copy paper and it will cut without too much effort. I used a fine acetate for my windows and not a construction acetate.

Adhere some fine red liner tape round the frame opening on the back as near to the scallop edge as possible.

Pop the acetate into place. To help position it only remove one piece of the liner to get you started. Once you are happy with the placement you can go ahead and remove the rest.

Only place red liner tape on two sides on top of the acetate as you want to leave a space at the top to slip in your photo later.

All set to glue in place.
Line up the windows carefully so that you can fold your album easily later on.

A piece of the cut out card to show where you pic will go.

Adhere your frames in place

The sides will fold in and meet in the middle as seen.

For the back cut a piece of card stock to fit and layer with paper of your choice for stability and to prevent the album bending on the fold.
If you want to use ribbon as a closure make sure to stick it in place before adding your mat and layer.
Decorate as desired to finish.

Hope you have fun and share your makes on our Tonic FB page!

Hi and welcome to the blog.

Look what I found on my phone! I'd forgotten about this wee one.

I loved making these and the bonus is that they can be made for any theme you like.

I've used Designer paper from The Works and some plain card stock from a stack by DoCrafts - the Capsule Eau de Nil collection which blended with it perfectly.

The ribbon is also from the collection.

I love the way you can make little pockets with the die provided and add words cut into your card stock. These would also be perfect for a lot of other crafty projects.

There is so much to choose from in this die set and I hope if you have secured yours you will have half as much fun as I did making these.

Have a good day!

Mini Album - Remember

Hi and welcome to the blog today.

I have another mini album to share, one that I made a wee while ago and more as a reference to myself than for any good reason. 😄

I made it using the Tonic Studios Memory Book 2 layering die set and the Spine set that accompanies it.

The papers are from a Mix and Match pad from the Works called Sweet Garden Roses and I have to say that the value is exceptional. I used just about half of one 12 x 12" pad for this album.

The plain card stock is from the DoCrafts Capsule collection - Eau de Nil that just matched the papers perfectly.

The metal embellishments are from China bought on Amazon and are fabulous for decoration and as I found great for the ends of the ribbon ties to keep them from fraying.

I've used various Tonic dies to enhance the pages.

The spine using one of the layering dies from the Memory Book 1 collection

Inside are all manner of pockets, flips and flaps revealing journalling spots and places to tuck your photos etc.

I have included pull outs on most of the pages, great for larger pics as well.

The little tucked in booklets also provide more space for photos or little secret messages.

I've used an EK Success punch for the edges and the Tonic photo die on these pages

Of course an album needs a waterfall and I've made this one using the dies from the MB 1 collection again.

The pull out on the facing page provides lots more room for those all important pics.

Lots of flips and flaps and photo mats on these two pages

A removable booklet and more pull outs for these pages

Photo spots and a pocket for more mini booklets completes the pages

The back of the album

I hope you enjoy this one. It's the Mummy to the baby legacy keeper I posted before.

Thank you for calling in.

Have a super week!

Hello and thank you for calling in today.

I have another album to share this time using papers from First Edition called 'Sweet Nothings'.

They aren't my usual choice but there's nothing like having a wee change.

The album is 6 1/2" x 6 1/2", the pages are 6 x 6"

I have a few pictures to share but also a walk through video as it was easier to show the pages that way so I hope you enjoy them.

Have a super day!

Nature Sketchbook Album in a box

$

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I've just finished my latest album using Graphic 45's 'Nature's Sketchbook' tucked into it's very own custom box. I've been itching to do a boxed album for a while so I'm really pleased to have completed it.

Graphic 45 Nature's Sketchbook
8 x 8" paper pad
Ephemera pack
6 x 6" plains and solids
Die cut flowers and Chipboard embellishments

I have a walk through on You Tube where you can see the pages in depth, so much easier than trying to photograph them. Well, it is in principle! That's if they will upload for you in the first place. LOL

I bought the box and album chipboard kit from Clare Charvill of 'My Creative Spirit' so I had the pleasure of making them up and decorating my album.

I used Tonic Studios spine creator die and Memory Book 2 Base Creator dies for flips and flaps and tags in the album.

Here are some pics of the pages

The album measures 5 x 7" and the spine is 2 1/2" deep.
Because the album has to fit into the box, any fussy embellishments were out so the front and spine are relatively flat.
I was running on vapours with the papers. I had used some of the 8 x 8" pad on other projects so it was a bit of a juggling act to cover both the box and finish the album. I used the same design to cover the front, back and spine which meant I could utilise the back of the paper pad and I also used one of the images from the front of the paper pad to add interest to the front of the album. There's no waste with G45!

I hope you enjoy it today.

 Have a great evening.
