Floral Apertures

Hello and welcome to the weekend on the blog.

I have two projects to share today using the fabulous Floral Aperture dies from Tonic Studios.
It seems as though you love them too and they have been flying out from Hochanda during the Weekend Wow! shows.

My first card is a partial shaker using the beautiful Oval Pansy die set.

Tonic products used -
 Venetian Lace die set
Wings and Things - Monarch butterfly
Many Thank mini sentiment die
Craft Perfect - Pistachio, Bright White, Fuschia Pink and Tonic's construction weight acetate
Nuvo Crystal Drops - Ivory Seashell
Peacock Feathers Confetti

I cut the floral spray from the white layer and backed the layer with acetate.
I replaced the die cut back into the aperture with Nuvo Deluxe glue for a good adhesion.
I carefully went round the aperture with 3D foam on the back to give a space for the confetti to sit.
I then added foam to the edges of the layer.
I cut the background pink layer with the outer Venetian lace die and also some of the separate flowers that come with the die set for decoration.
I cut a piece of the pistachio card stock to give a small border round the top layer and carefully set the confetti in the same area where my floral aperture would be.
After removing the release tape from the foam I carefully placed the top layer down onto the green and 'captured' the confetti.
Both were matted onto the pink decorative layer. The extra flowers were shaped and added to the die cut.
The sentiment and butterfly were placed onto the top layer and this was adhered to the front of the card.
I finished off the card with ivory seashell drops on the pink layer, butterfly and flowers.

Tonic Oval Pansy Aperture 6 Die Set-517341

My second project today is a decorative plaque.

Tonic products used -
Folk Heart die set
Square Flourish die set
Craft Perfect - Kraft, White Ivory, Red Velvet, Avocado Green, Pistachio green
Happy Anniversary Mini sentiment
Nuvo Crystal Drops - Ivory Seashell

For this one I die cut some chipboard - it needs to be fairly thin (I use the back of board envelopes). I cut two layers to give me some structure.
I die cut two layers of the kraft card and inked the edges. One each for the back and front of the plaque.
I die cut a decorative layer from the white ivory card stock.
I used the gorgeous Red Velvet Craft Perfect card stock to cut the backing layer and the flowers.
I die cut the floral element from avocado green and backed it with pistachio.
The flowers were moulded and shaped and added to the floral spray as shown.
This was adhered to the plaque and to finish I added some ivory dots.

Don't forget to stick the ribbon in place between the layers to keep everything neat and tidy.

Thank you for joining me today.

Have a lovely weekend.

Shimmery Rose

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I've been playing with some of the new Nuvo Shimmer powders from Tonic and doing a bit of water colouring.

I got some new stamps recently and thought they would be ideal for this technique. I'm very much a beginner but I've set myself the challenge this year to get to grips with it and they do say practice makes perfect.

I stamped the image and embossed with Nuvo Detail Glacier White embossing powder onto water colour card stock.

I painted the image little by little with water and added the pigment and allowed it to wick on the surface. I did overbrush a couple of sections so the wicking effect isn't so noticeable but I'm getting there.

I used Shimmer powders in Solar Flare and Green Parade for the leaves; Cherry Bombe and a tiny touch of Carnival Red for the flower.
I created the brown for the stem mixing the yellow, green and red together.

I backed the panel with Craft Perfect Speciality 'Emerald Hessian' paper and popped it onto a card.

The image has a lovely shimmer but I couldn't pick it up on camera.

Let's just say I'll keep on practising.

Thank you for calling in today. Hope you are enjoying the warm weather - it certainly makes a change.

Mini Gift Bag from Tonic's Craft Kit #9

Good afternoon.

I hope the sun is shining where you are - it's a beautiful day here if a tad chilly.

I have a mini gift bag to share today using the gorgeous die set from the latest Tonic Studios Craft Kit #9.

It has sold out in the UK so I hope you were fortunate enough to secure one.

This bag is a mini version of the gorgeous Decorative Gift Box which launched on 24th March.

I haven't used the decorative dies on the main panels for my sample but believe me they are gorgeous. Check out Blog Tonic for more ideas. All the links to the DT blogs and Social Media are on the sidebar so you will never be lost for inspiration. :)

I took a piece of Tonic Ultra Smooth white card and colour washed it with Nuvo Aqua Markers in Spiced Ginger, Aqua Splash and Indigo Dawn.
I then used the Tonic stencil 'Bevelled Diamond' and lifted some of the ink with plain water to create a pattern on the card.
I die cut the sections with the plain dies from the set and adhered them to the box base.
For my box today I've used Craft Perfect Bright White card stock which is sturdy enough when the layers are added.

I kept some of the colour washed card stock plain and when I had die cut the little open flowers from the die set, I then proceeded to back them using the plain card stock.

I die cut the sentiment and plaque and added it to the bottom of the box.

Thank you for calling in today.
Have a good one!

Good morning and welcome.

I hope everyone going to the Belfast Live show has a great day today.
It's pouring down at the minute but you should be nice and warm in the Titanic Venue.
Check out the Crafty Devils stand for lots of Tonic goodies!

Onto today's post. I've made another little gift bag from the Tonic Craft Kit #9 die set.
These wee bags are addictive and I haven't even used the decorative panels yet.

Tonic Products used -
Craft Kit #9 die set
Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth white card stock, Lime Light pearlescent card stock,  Glitter card - Tropical Tide
Nuvo 'Blue Topaz' glimmer paste
Nuvo Jewel drops - Key Lime
Tonic 8 x 8" stencil - Bevelled Diamond

The glitter card matches the glitter paste perfectly so the top corners were cut from the glitter card.

I die cut the panels from the Ultra Smooth card stock and then stencilled the glitter paste over them as I didn't want to crush the fabulous dimension by cutting them after treating the card.

I used a spatula to apply the paste, removed the stencil and then added the drops so the paste and drops could dry together and save a little time. Scrape off all the product you can and pop it back into the jar before washing your stencil and spatula. Remember to pop your stencil into water immediately to remove all traces of the paste or it will harden onto it and make it harder to use next time.

I may even make one with all the decorative dies next time. LOL

I hope you have a super day and thank you for calling in.

Impossible Card

Hi and welcome to the blog today.

I have an Impossible Card to share today, so called because it's made from one piece of card stock and it's not immediately obvious how it goes together.
I've added a strap and decorations to complete the card.

I found a fabulous tutorial on You Tube by Sam that explains it really well.
You can find that tut HERE.

I had the coloured image on my work top so I proceeded to put the card together.

I coloured the image and die cut flowers with Tonic's Nuvo alcohol markers and added a foiled greeting I'd made on my Go Press and Foil using a sentiment from Enchanted Moon.

The foliage and flowers dies are from the Tonic Craft Kit # 5
The stamped image is from Tonic Craft Kit #7

The designer paper is an old set by K & Co.

Here is a sideways look at the card construction. Fun isn't it?

This craze is really catching on and there have been some fantastic cards made using the idea.

I hope you can join in.

Thank you for calling in today. Have a lovely day.😃

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I have a couple of the new Tonic Studios 'Parfumerie Perfect' gift boxes to share today.

The first one is the Panache gift box and is simply elegant and stylish however you choose to decorate it.

I've used Craft Perfect Honey Gold satin and Red Velvet Pearlescent card stock and the little flower die that comes with the set together with the decorative panel on the front.
There are also two more sentiments plaques and a gorgeous floral swirl in the set.

A superbly sized gift box for all sorts of occasions.

The box is the Parfumerie Perfect 'Romance' gift box.

I've used Craft Perfect Speciality Pearl Damask and Silver Silk card stock and also the Cherry Red from the weave textured collection.

This box comes with a variety of tags that can be used on lots of projects.

It is a self closing box with the option of ribbon slots for bow tying or for hanging the box on a tree, as a lantern etc.

Don't forget to check out the shows on Hochanda for lots more inspiration and demos.

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

I have another pair of the cute Parfumerie Boxes to share today.

The first one is the Panache.

I've used Craft Perfect Bright White, Amber Yellow and Avocado Green and a base card approx 260gsm in charcoal for this one.
Nuvo Ivory Seashell drops

Additional:
Memento Cantaloupe die ink

My second box is the Romance version.

I had a lot of fun with this one and the new Nuvo Shimmer powders.

I used the powders on Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth card stock - Violet Brocade, Solar Flare and Atlantis Burst, tapping lightly and then adding spritzes of water until I had the effect I wanted.
I die cut the panels as you can see as backing plates and then the white decorative panels over that so the colours could peep through.
I paper pieced the tag and attached it to the top of the box.

I hope you manage to catch the shows where there are lots more ideas and demos.

Have a lovely day and thank you for calling in.

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.
It's Bank Holiday so I hope you are able to be out and about enjoying the break or having fun tucked up in your craft room making beautiful projects to share.😃

I have a couple of boxes to share today and the first one is the lovely Panache box.

This time I've alternated die cut panels with plain and used the floral swirl and flower dies on the plain panels.
The greeting comes with the set and as it is debossed it worked in the Go Press and Foil machine to give me a foiled greeting.

Tonic Parfumerie Perfect Panache gift box
Craft Perfect - Bright white, Blossom Pink, Avocado green
Nuvo Crystal drops - Gloss white

My second box is the fiendishly clever Romance box. You only need to glue this one at the base everything else is held together with slots and tabs. Fab!

I cut into alternate panels with this one and lined them with the sumptuous Craft Perfect Speciality card Powder Blue Lace.
The tags come with the set and I've added the flowers from the Panache die set.
The base of the box has been cut from Craft Perfect Majestic Gold card stock.

Lastly I have made a DL card using the panels from the Romance card for my decorative layer.
The finished card is 4 1/4 x 8 1/4"

I've used Craft perfect Avocado green, Pistachio green, Bright white, Mauve purple and Amethyst purple
Mini Moments Sentiment - Sent with love
Nuvo Crystal drops - Crushed Grape

I hope you enjoyed the shows over the weekend but if you missed them you can catch up on Rewind (Hochanda) and see lots of inspiration on the team blogs and social media. Links are all on the Tonic Blog.

Have a smashing Bank Holiday!

Meet Charlie

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I would like to introduce you to Charlie the latest member of our family.

Charlie, a four year old Shih Tzu, has been with us just over a month and already he has settled in really well.

We rehomed him from the Causeway Coast Dog Rescue in Coleraine.
I took this photo after his first grooming session. He has such a cute wee face and a gorgeous coat and who could resist those eyes!

Image may contain: dog

He is a major cuddle buddy and just loves being where you are no matter what you are doing so he's the perfect companion when I'm busy crafting, watching television, playing with the grandchildren or just chillin!

We have our daily walk which for him is just a sniff fest but he loves it. My legs are telling a different story but hey ho it's a great excuse to get a bit fitter.
He is amazingly well behaved and whoever had him before must have put a lot of work into training him.

He's pictured here with his favourite toy that has to come to bed with him. Yes, you've guessed it, he sleeps in our bedroom as he can't bear to be without company. He has his own blanket and designated spot but it doesn't stop him trying to get up on the bed. That's a no no, well for now anyway. 😄

He suits us down to the ground and I don't think I could have found a better wee dog. Now just the  hair shedding to contend with, but it's worth it. LOL

Thank you for calling in today.
I hope you are enjoying our 'summer' weather.
Ta for now!

Beautiful Shimmer

Hello and welcome to the blog today.

I have a trio of cards to share using the latest Nuvo Glitter Markers as my colouring medium.

The images are from Studio Light's Romantic Botanic range.

I've chosen the peony flower for my first card and stamped it onto watercolour card stock with Versafine Smokey Gray ink.
I used Craft Perfect Pistachio green card stock and white coloured with the pink glitter marker as my layers.
The Nuvo Glitter pens used to colour this image are
Strawberry Bonbon (185)
Morning Moss (189)
Red from the Ember Glow original set of glitter markers

I finished the card with some pink gems and a sentiment also coloured with the Strawberry Bonbon marker.

I stamped the image with Versafine Smokey Gray onto Craft Perfect Ultra Smooth White card stock and it took the water colouring very well with no pilling or bubbling of the paper.
The sentiment is from my stash.

I used Nuvo Glitter markers in Morning Moss (189)
Wild Lavender (187)
Raspberry Tart (179)
Purple Passion (181)
Venetian Jade (180)
Iced Americano (190)
The card layers are in Craft Perfect Mauve Purple and Amethyst Purple.

I used some of the older sets for this second one but forgot to make a note of the colours I used. Oops!

The greeting is stamped in Iced Americano glitter pen and twinkles like mad. The camera hasn't picked up the glittery effect sadly.

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

Continuing on with the samples from the launch of the latest Tonic Pretty Posies die collection I have a couple of projects to share today.

My first is a card made with the Floral Favour Octagon Layering die set used as the base.

Tonic Products used -

Pretty Posies - A New Start die set
Craft Perfect - Jet Black, Bright White, Chrome Silver and White Ultra Smooth
Nuvo Shimmer Powders -  Solar Flare, Catherine Wheel

I went for an explosion of colour in the background tempered with the solid black and a splash of silver.

My second card using the New Start die collection has the stark contrast of blue and white with a dash of yellow.

I've used the Twisting Veranda die set as my base for the card.

Other Tonic products used -

Pretty Posies - A New Start
Kaleidoscope Insert 'My Gift to You' (1905e) for the flowers
Leaves from Craft Kit #5
Craft Perfect - French Blue, Bright White
Glitter card - Sugar Crystal

These new dies work beautifully with older dies from the Tonic collection that I'm sure a lot of you already have in your stash.

It's lovely to breathe new life into them.

Thank you for joining me today.

Craft Perfect Heavy weight Acetate
CP Speciality card stock - Umber Etching
Nuvo Cosmic Brown Embellishment mousse

Tonic Craft Kit #10

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

I have a trio of cards to share using the new Tonic Craft Kit #10. I was fortunate to receive the dies and stamps from this kit to work with and they are a lot of fun. If you take a look at the inspiration already posted for this kit you will see what I mean.
The video team have outdone themselves.
You can find details for the kits and the inspiration here
Tonic's main kit page where you can see the videos under the Inspiration button
Tonic's blog where there are links to Social media sites and the DT blogs.

I have worked with the same colour theme and materials throughout.

5 x 7 card blanks
Craft kit dies and stamps
Nuvo Hybrid inks - Black shadow, Royal Plum, Spring Heather
Craft Perfect - Jet Black, Bright White, Water Colour card
Nuvo Shimmer powders - Atlantis Burst, Cherry Bomb, Violet Brocade

I began by using two A5 sheets of the water colour card stock.
I spritzed them with lots of water and applied the shimmer powders. As you can see I ended up with two very different finishes. I love the power packed colours these shimmer powders produce.
I cut the designs as you can see, stamped panels and added Nuvo Ivory Seashell drops to the cards to finish.
I used bright white card stock for the main backing panels and inked the edges with Spring Heather and Royal Plum.

The greeting is cut from the panel stamp in the kit and inked with Royal Plum hybrid ink.

I made this card using the leftovers from the spritzed and shimmered sheets.
I cut the sentiment from the Congratulations stamp in the kit.

The sentiment was die cut using both the alphabet die in the kit and then cut from the Happy Birthday stamp. You don't need to use it all if you don't want to. :)

I hope you enjoyed this trio today.

Have a great day and thank you for calling in!

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

Well today sees the launch of the latest Tonic Memory Book die sets.
Wow! the show practically sold out in the first hour. You are really loving these dies that's for sure.

I made two 'beginner' albums for the show one Wedding and one Romance theme that I will share tomorrow.
Here is the wedding album.

Because some of us prep the albums we don't get to make up a full one (it takes a lot of time) so this one has a few pages made up to give a flavour of what you can do even if you've never made a book before.

I've used papers from DCWV 'The Formal Affair' paper stack to decorate, Anna Griffin satin ribbon for the closure and card stock from Tonic for the mats and layers.

I hope you have managed to order your dies today. I know you will have many hours of fun putting your albums together.

Thank you for calling in today.

Good morning and welcome to the weekend on the blog.
I have the second of my Memory Books to share today.
I kept to a simple layout to encourage beginners to have a go. After you have seen what the dies can do there will be no stopping you and you can advance in placing multiple flip flops, inserts and tabbed tags etc wherever you like. 😃

I've made a smaller size album also to show just how versatile these dies are. You are not restricted to one size only and you can vary the size of page you put inside as well. Our first launch of layering dies will also work with this new set.

I've used Graphic 45 'Gilded Lily' papers to decorate with ribbon and metallic corners for the closure.

This shows the spine of the book with the brand new Memories die that everyone has been requesting. I've used the little photo corners accents that come with the photos and filmstrip accessory die set.

I've added magnets to hold the flap closed and used one of the fabulous tab dies as a convenient way to open and close it.

I've added a wee concertina pocket to hold those precious little mementos you might have.

I've used these brads as a closure to tie the ribbon through.

Here is a pic of the full set of dies available with this launch.

Check out the Tonic blog for lots more intricately designed albums and it's also where you will find links to social media sites and the DT blogs.

Enjoy!

Gift Bags

Well it's time for another fabulous launch from Tonic Studios this evening at 6.00pm on Hochanda with Jodie.

You will love these I am sure!

I'm sharing one of the cute pillow box bags with you but have tucked the handle over and threaded through with some corrugated card stock.
I love this look.

So without further ado here it is.

I cut the flap off one side leaving a small strip for gluing. Fold the remaining handle onto the front and decorate as seen.

This bag opens from the sides and it's also handy to punch a half circle on the side that will be under the main flap for easy opening.
You can glue the ends if you prefer and open the bag from the top if you keep the handles in place.

Tonic Products used:
Craft Perfect - Espresso Brown, Kraft, Pistachio Green
Essentials Layering hearts die set
Kaleidoscope Beautiful Things insert die set (flowers)
Nuvo Acorn Brown hybrid ink
Craft Kit #5 - leaves
Nuvo twine

Additional products
Cream corrugated card from my stash.

I hope you can join Jodie this evening - the landscape bag dies are fantabulous!

Have a great day!

Pillow Bag Duo

Good morning and welcome to the blog today.

I thought I would share the remaining pillow box bags I made for the Gift Bag launch today.
I promise I will share the others soon.

As you can see I made one with and one without the handles so you can make as many versions, decorated in your own personal style as you like.

For the first box I've used 300gsm card stock for the base bag.
When I cut the pieces I cut a semi circle from each end flap of one of the pieces to make it easier to open.
All your score lines are already in place once you cut the bag so it couldn't be easier to make.

I've used Lilac and Blue decorative paper with vellum flowers to finish.
The flowers and foliage are from Tonic's Craft Kit #5 and I've added Nuvo Aqua Flow Glitter gloss pen to the petals though it hasn't picked up in the picture.
Once you have made up your flowers with the vellum, spritz them lightly with water and allow the petals to curl to give added dimension.
The bag was completed with a big organza bow.

For my second bag I've kept the handles in place and went to town on the decoration.

Products used -
Lily Pillow Bag
Craft Perfect - Bright White, Lime Light, Mauve Purple, Jet Black
Nuvo Crushed Grape drops
Mini Moments 'For you' sentiment

I made this bag up with the handles attached.
You can either open the bag using the top with the sides sealed or seal the handles and keep the sides open. The choice is yours. I sealed the handles on this one.
I've used the dainty hole pattern die for the decoration, backed it with the lime light card and then decorated it using the elements in the die set.
You can keep these fairly plain or go mad on the decoration. Such fun!

Don't forget to join Jodie on Hochanda for more Gift Bag shows today.
Loads of inspiration and demos to see.
